Reading Park Logic Model Rated Level IV by Evidence for ESSA

LearnPlatform by Instructure, a third-party edtech research company, worked with Discovery Education (formerly DreamBox Learning) to develop a logic model for Reading Park. This logic model provides the program roadmap, program inputs, outputs, activities, and outcomes. The logic model is designed to satisfy Level IV requirements (Demonstrates a Rationale) according to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The next phase in this research is to plan an ESSA Level III study to examine the extent to which Reading Park impacts student achievement.

How does DreamBox work?

DreamBox Math analyzes every strategy, action and concept children use as they interact with lessons to determine how they are solving problems and adjusts instruction accordingly. Our program continuously adapts to each learner based on in-the-moment analysis of math strategies they use and how they solve problems. Children get the right content at the right time and formative assessment happens as they are learning. This provides every child with individualized instruction based on their unique learning needs.

My child has DreamBox through their school. How can I support their learning?

A great way to support your child’s learning on DreamBox is to help them set goals. On DreamBox, students can monitor their own progress to ensure they are invested and engaged in their learning. Challenge your child to set goals in the short term (ex: “I’ll complete 5 DreamBox lessons this week”) and long term (ex: “I’ll master these standards this quarter”). Another way you can support your learner is celebrating their perseverance and milestones. When math feels hard for your child, encourage them to persevere and provide them opportunities to reflect on their learning – asking them questions about math class is a great start! To celebrate milestones, you can log in to your DreamBox Family Dashboard to monitor accomplishments in your child’s math learning. Downloading student certificates is a fun way to celebrate!
